Creature Furniture
I think this will be my post-graduate work.
The idea: an object with consciousness that seeks to change and replicate itself.
The piece would receive information from its environment: temperature, humidity, the portions of its body that are touched and with what force or type of movement it's touched, from the PDAs of the people who use it, from other objects in the room, from information available on the web about its owners, its location, and other furniture.
The furniture would create plans for offspring to fulfill purposes it perceives are needed in its environment and propose ways to modify itself to be more useful within the space.
The furniture would look and feel like a living organism, just to be extra creepy.
